The Nanny Diaries

The Nanny Diaries by: Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus
Wow, this is a good book if you are looking for something funny to read. It is about a girl named Nanny and she becomes the nanny to a boy named Grayer, and her job goes from being part time to full time because when you become a nanny, you are basically raising someone else's child even though that person, isn't even doing anything, Like in the book the mom's name is Mrs. X, and she just goes to the spa all day, or she goes shopping. I think that this is like a light reading book because you don't really have to think while you are reading it, its not deep and moving it is just a light read. =D

A Thousand Splendid Suns

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

Wow talk about an amazing book, I could not put it down it is so informative. It taught me so much about how women in other parts of the World live, so this book is about a girl named Mariam, who lives in Afghanistan and she is a "love child" this story follows her for about 30 years. She is the daughter of a wealthy man named Jalil and His old housekeeper Nana. Jalil already has 3 wives so Nana and Mariam are forced to go live in this little run down shack on the outskirts of the town that he lives in, He comes and visits Mariam every thursday and one thursday Mariam asks if she can go to the Cinema, so the next day before she leaves Nana Says "If you go I will die" and Mariam just thought that she was being Dramatic, so she goes and Jalil does not even see her and she stays outside of his fence the whole night the next day she is forced to go home and when she gets there she finds out that Nana has hanged Herself. So then Mariam is forced to marry Rasheed a couple weeks later and Rasheed is like 40 years old, Mariam was only like 15 at the time. Well, your going to have to read the rest because this book is just amazing!!!

I Capture the Castle

I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith

Wow can I say Amazing!! This book was so good it took me like a week to read because like it was written like almost 60 years ago so you have to think about the language not only because it is a little old but also because it takes place in England. This book is about this girl named Cassandra her beautiful sister named Rose, Her eccentric stepmother Topaz, Her wash-out dad who hasn't written a book in more than 15 years, her smart little brother Thomas, and Stephen the son of their old maid, who just stayed after his mother passed away. About 10 pages into the book Neil and Simon Cotton show up they are the sons of the man who owns the castle that Cassandra and her Family (plus Stephen) live in. They come and soon after Rose and Simon are engaged and Cassandre realises that she is in love with stephen and wants to know if Rose is in love with him because she knows that Rose wants to marry him because he has money and Cassandra and Fam. live in total poverty. At the end of the book Rose and Niel run away together and Cassandra is still left crushing on Simon. This is a really good book I think that everyone should read it.

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
When I said that a book was my favorite I lied, well I wasn't lying at the moment but this book is pure, and Amazing. It is possibly the best book I've ever read. Jane Austen is awesome, this is the only book that I've ever read by her and I loved it, I want to read the rest of them, I think that I am going to read Persuasion next. I saw the movie before I read the book (I know that, that was very bad.) and i loved it but I think watching the movie first definitely ruined the end for me, at the same time it helped me understand the book better, than if I didn't know what was happening. So I completely fell in love with these charaters, they go through so much only to fall in love with the person that they thought that they hated (cough* Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy*Cough). I think that anybody who loves romance books and doesn't mind the 18th century language would love this book.

Song of the Magdalene

Song of the Magdalene by Donna Jo Napoli

This book is amazing, I love these historical Fiction books, and Donna Jo Napoli is a great author I read another book by her a couple of years ago and it was great. This book is set Right before Christ was born and it is about a Jewish Girl Named Miriam. Miriam is in an upper class Jewish family and her mother is dead so she is raised by her father and Hannah her house keeper. She has a friendship with Hannah's son Abraham who has celebral Palsy and cannot move any part of his body besides one of his hands. Well, Miriam starts to have fits and decides that she will not get married. Abraham finds out and keeps the secret with her. He teaches her to read which bad back then and in return she pushes him around town in his cart which i think is bad because back then he was considered and idiot and was dirt even though he was really smart. Miriam and Abraham end up falling in love and she got pregnant with out them getting married. He Dies shortly after and she loses the baby. She is forced to go live with her uncle and she leaves there when he finds out that she has fits. She goes and Lives in caves and prays to the creator, until one day she finds a woman with a sick child, they then go to a healer named Joshua who the Romans called Jesus. She goes to with them to find Joshua who ends up being in her Hometown where people think that she has demons. She has a fit right in front of Joshua and People tell him to leave her alone. He helps her and she spends the rest of her life following him around helping people, being called Mary Magdelene.
